Many shoppers place their shopping orders through Lumacart. When a shopper places an order, we offer deliveries to Carters who earn money by fulfilling these deliveries.
Lumacart is currently available in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are quickly expanding and will be entering the Los Angeles and New York markets pretty soon.
Our signup process takes just a few minutes. After you signup it can take up to 2 weeks to get your account fully activated.
To earn money all you need is a smartphone and a mode of transportation such as a car, a scooter or a motorcycle. We take care of everything else.
No. You can use any car so long as it is reliable, registered unless exempt and insured. You also need a driver's license.

You're the boss. As an independent contractor, you have the flexibility and freedom to drive whenever, wherever you want. You can make it full-time, part-time or once in a while, and cart practically anywhere.
No. You don't need any prior work experience. But if you have prior experience in the rideshare, food, or courier service industries, delivering with Lumacart is a great way to earn money. We welcome drivers from other gig economy or commercial services such as UberEats, Postmates, Lyft, Eat24, Google Express, GrubHub, AmazonFresh, Instacart, Amazon, Uber, Waitr, and Bite Squad. Carters come from all backgrounds and industries, and include van drivers, truck drivers, and taxi drivers.
With delivery, there are two big differences:
- 1. You don't have passengers in your car.
- 2. You can use any mode of transportation: your car (two doors is fine), bicycle, or motorcycle.
It’s also a bit more active than ridesharing, as you get in/out of your car/bike to pick up and deliver the food.
Once you receive a delivery opportunity, you'll see where it is and what you'll make, and can choose to accept or reject it. Once you accept, there are generally three steps, all of which are clearly outlined in the Driver app:
- 1. Drive to the store.
- 2. Pick up the order.
- 3. Drive to the customer to drop off the order.
